Passions & Pathways 2017

Elements

(Based on 30 Year 6 students)

A FLEXIBLE model allows schools to choose their starting date. The first 3-4 elements can be done in Term 2. This enables breaks in some weeks for preparation/research.

Term 3 only Model – 10 weeks

• Tuning in/finding out – s/based
• Safety Systems – 1 x 1hr visit –s/ based
• Young Industry Ambassadors x 2-4 x 1 weeks – school based
• Trade Training Centre Visit – 1 hr
• LA TROBE UNI Workshops–3 hrs
• Industry Tours – Group sizes 10-12. 2 visits per group over 1 week.
• Projects – Group sizes 6-8. 1.5 hrs per week, over 3 weeks.
• Celebration of student learning

Learning Tasks

• Student learning embedded in aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment
• Preparation (pre/post)
• Research
• Follow up from visits
• Presentations
• Portfolios to record learning

Principal Commitment

• Passions and Pathways School Based Leader/Facilitator
• Designated and integrated learning time in weekly timetable
• Planning Time
• Building relationships with all stakeholders
• Principal attendance at Steering Committee Meetings 1 x month

Budget Requirements

(Based on 30 students)

• For Tours: need 3-4 teachers to attend and follow up
• For Projects: need 4-5 teachers to attend and follow up
• Some Projects required additional resources
• Transport – buses. some public transport use
• Portfolios – A3 Display
• Photocopying
• EXPO/Showcase venue hire – shared between schools
• Registration – shared by schools, to cover website hosting

Transport Costs

• 1 each to drop off /pick up Trade Training Centre & LA TROBE University
• Tours 1-2 days x 4 drop offs/pick up
• Projects 3 days x drop offs /pick ups
