HOW DO BUSINESSES ENGAGE?

Local industry is pivotal to the Passions & Pathways program. We partner with businesses to provide a range of engaging and aspirational tours, conversations and hands-on experiences for students.

We look forward to being involved again and encourage other Businesses to be involved It was very rewarding and lots of fun inspiring young people of all career paths that are possible

HOST AN INDUSTRY TOUR

A highlight of P&P is making real-world connections to future opportunities through authentic workplace experiences. During our P&P business tours, students visit workplaces, meet employees and see people in action in their daily work. Hands-on workshops allow students to see themselves in a variety of roles throughout their P&P experience.

PARTNER IN AN ENTREPRENEURIAL PROJECT

Over the program duration students collaborate with a local business to resolve a problem, requiring them to draw upon their individual skills, interests, problem solving abilities and creative thinking, similar to that experienced in the ‘real world’.

ENCOURAGE YOUNG INDUSTRY AMBASSADORS

Aged 18-30, Young Industry Ambassadors (YIA) share their career journey with students in classrooms to develop student aspiration and highlight the value of school completion. YIAs increase their own professional skills and connections through training, public speaking, and networking opportunities.

CELEBRATE AT THE STUDENT EXPO SHOWCASE

Celebrate with students as they share their learning with their peers, family and community at a celebratory Expo event.

Why work with us?

Community Engagement

Passions & Pathways gives businesses the opportunity to ‘give back,’ help young people understand local industries and opportunities, and inspire future generations.

Future Workforce

Many local businesses are struggling to attract workers or are finding that young people don’t know what’s available. Passions & Pathways gives businesses the opportunity to connect directly with students at a time when they are just beginning to connect their skills and interests with future opportunities.

Our Experience

For 20 years, the 31 individual organisations that comprise the Victorian Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs) have acted as facilitators – bringing together partners and their resources – to address the challenges that face young people to successfully transition from school to work in local economies.
